Haynesville - Valerie Lynn (Walden) Kiernan, 61, passed away Monday, May 20, 2019 at her home in Haynesville, ME. Valerie was born April 4, 1958, in New London, CT, the daughter of the late William Walden Sr. and the late Margaret A. (Korineck) Walden.
Val attended Nathan Hale Ray High School and graduated with the Class of 1976. After High School Val worked for R.R Donnelly and Son. She also became an EMT and volunteered for the Lyme Ambulance association (Y200) and the Montville ambulance association.
Val became ill and was considered disabled in her early 20's. She took up crocheting and knitting and she would make the most beautiful items. There wasn't a stitch she didn't know how to do. She loved playing in the flower garden. She had a passion for horses and raising German Shepards. Val loved the holidays, Christmas cookies everywhere, Easter Quiches and Bunny rabbit cakes. Those are some of the things she loved to bake.
Val leaves behind her husband and "Hero" Mike Kiernan of ME; the love of her life daughter Marianne (Roby) Pierce; her husband Jon; and the light of her life granddaughter Analiese of ME; a brother William Walden Jr. and his wife June of CT; sister Teresa (Walden) Terrel, her husband Peter of VA.; sister-in-law Brenda Walden; her mother in law, Joan Kiernan of GA.; cousin Karen Piazza of ME; several nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law; and two brothers-in-law. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother Thomas Walden, and an infant sister Cindy Walden.
A graveside service will be held at a later date in Connecticut and will be announced on Facebook.
