Caribou, Maine - Shirley E. Carson, 91, died January 3, 2026, at Caribou. She was born in Woodland, June 12, 1934, the daughter of the late Edwin and Mildred (Philbrook) Thomas.
In 1957 she married Elburn J. Carson. Shirley was a retired L.P.N. having been employed at Cary Medical Center for many years. She was passionate about many things, especially her family and friends, enjoying crafting genealogy albums for them in later years. She was an avid quilter, carrying on the family tradition and sharing her treasures with those she loved.
Shirley is survived by her two daughters, Cindy Goodine of Washburn and Bonnie Chadwick and husband, Allen, of Bristol, CT; a stepdaughter, June (John) Churchill of Washburn; one sister, Chris Thomas of Santee, CA; her beloved grandchildren, Melanie Cote, Adam (Erin) Cote, and their children, Anna and Ellie, Ryan Goodine, Jessica (Allen) Milton and Nathan (Chelsea) Goodine; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Shirley was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Elburn; two sisters, Dorcas Ketch and Edwina Barber; a grandson, Eric Harris and son-in-law, Kevin Goodine.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Borderview Nursing Home for providing loving care for Shirley over her last couple years. A memorial service will be held in the late spring at a date and time to be announced by the Mockler Funeral Home. mocklerfuneralhome.com
