Scotty H. Nevers Obituary

Merrill, Maine - Scotty H. Nevers, born to Earl O. Nevers and Freda Goodine Nevers, passed into Eternity on June 25, 2025, at his home in Merrill.

Scotty grew up in Merrill, attending local schools, graduated from Ricker Classical institute, then went on to heavy equipment school in Illinois. Scotty came home and went to work. Scotty worked in the logging industry. He was an astute businessman and also worked as a logging contractor for many years - sometimes employing 100 people. He left the "woods" but not logging - he built a logging yard in New Limerick and simultaneously he contracted with LP to load, unload trucks and "feed the mill" running 24/7 at LP with a crew he was so very proud of. The best crew anyone could have, he often said. Scotty was a longtime member of the Bethel Pentecostal Church and would often say, "it is well with my soul." Scotty loved the Lord and prayed for unsaved loved ones daily.

Scotty was predeceased by his parents, Earl and Freda Nevers; and by two brothers-in-law, Marcus Russell and Otis Shaw. He is survived by his beloved wife of 21 years, Candy Carmichael Nevers; his two sisters, Erlene Russell of Houlton, ME, and Jeanette (Ken) Peters of Fort Fairfield, ME; his sons, Greg and Tammi Nevers of Oakfield, ME, Dr. Christopher and Zana Nevers of Madison, WI, Jamey Roy of New Castle, ME; his daughters, Misty Roy of Merrill, ME, and Sonja York and Ben Williams of Saco, ME; brother-in-law, Milford and his wife, Lisa Carmichael; his beloved grandchildren, Vanessa (Charlie) Phipps, Jeromy (Missy) Nevers, Adrianna and Dimitri Nevers, Dalton, Mallory and Devon Roy, Hannah and Haley McGary, and Winter and Autumn Williams; and 3 great-grandchildren, Lillian Phipps, Zoe and Josie Nevers. He dearly loved his bonus grandchildren, Matt Bustard and Jennifer Locke; and brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Percy aka Buck (Karen) Carmichael, Raymond (Melanie), Linda Shaw, Dell (Karen) Carmichael, and Rodney Carmichael.

A special thank you to special friends and family who helped out in big ways over the past year, helping Scotty and Candy as well as making so many wonderful memories. He enjoyed every second: Andy, Jill and Matt Bustard, Mike Lane, Lyndsay McMannus, Ricki and Jill Shields, Jordan and Olivia Shields, Matt McGary, Lynn Desmond Levasseur, Misty and her beloved girls, Hannah and Haley, as well as Trenton Soucy, who with the girls made almost daily visits and Dunkin runs, Billy and Penny Nadeau, Sonja and Ben Williams, Bruce and Anna, Brian, and Dennis Clark, Brian, Chris Murray, Nate Coughlan, Herb Chaffe, Perley, Brenda Burpee and crew at A Place to Eat, his special buddy, Ryder Russell, and our Bethel family. Thank you all so much.
