Island Falls, Maine - Ruben Louis Albert Sr., 86, died December 3, 2025. He was the beloved husband of Mae (Pringle) Albert for more than 60 years. Born in Limestone and raised in Houlton, Maine, to the late Edmond and Laura Albert, he lived in Alabama for the past four years, and prior to that in Orrington.

Ruben started his long career with the local farmers of Houlton driving long haul trucks and moved into his love of fabrication and maintenance at Louisiana Pacific in Houlton for eight years, PERC in Orrington for 20 years and for Steve Clisham Construction in Winterport until his retirement in 2008. Ruben was a United States Army veteran with service in Texas and Korea.

He was the devoted father of Ruben Jr. and his wife, Gail, of Island Falls and James and his wife, Christine, of Athens, Alabama; loving grandfather of Brittney Curtin, Mitchell Reggio, and Josh and Brianna McClure; and great-grandfather to Ashlyn, Lillian, Paxleigh and Ansleigh. He was the brother to Ralph, Leona, Rita, Ruthie, and Nan. He was uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Freeman, Kenneth, Arlene, Irene Pauline and Gary. Those who knew Ruben will remember him for his generous spirit, easy laughter, and his remarkable ability to tell a great story.

Ruben was an avid outdoorsman and his favorite pastimes included hunting with family and friends, designing and fabricating anything and everything, and spending time at his camp in Mount Chase. He was an avid baseball fan and spent many afternoons watching his sons play Little League and high school sports. Ruben was the uncle who never missed a celebration and who offered steady guidance when it was needed most. He was a father figure to many people over the years. His happiest times were those spent with his family and friends.

At Ruben's request, a graveside service with military honors will be held at a later date at the passing of his wife. A celebration of life is planned for noon Saturday December 13, at 94 Roosevelt Rd., Island Falls. To share memories and condolences, please visit bowersfuneral.com.
