Rosilla C. Whitmore-Chouteau
Skiatook, OK - Rosilla Coral Whitmore Chouteau , 87 yrs. from Skiatook Oklahoma, went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 29, 2019.
She is the daughter of Dyke and Addie Whitmore born September 17, 1931. She grew up in the Green Ridge area in Caribou , Maine. Being one of 13 children , and growing up on the family farm she began working at a young age . She went on and graduated from Caribou High School class of 1948. She worked many jobs and had a strong work ethic . While working as a waitress at Beckwith's Diner she met Roger Chouteau , he was from Tahlaquah Oklahoma and was stationed at the Presque Isle Air Force Base . They married May 10, 1958. They started their life together and raised a large family of 9 children. Rose took on many jobs as well, doing what ever she could to support her family. She also held Vacation Bible School in her home for many summers so the neighborhood children could learn about Jesus. Many times you would find her head bowed in prayer, and studying the scripture. They took in many foster children throughout the years while raising their own children. They moved to different locations as work was sought out, and they made their way back to Oklahoma in the 1980's. She worked as manager at Jenny Lynne Tomco in Skiatook , Oklahoma for many years.
She loved and wrote poetry , hundreds of poems written about her love for the Lord, and about her family. She had a true gift , often times writing and sending the poems to loved ones when they needed those words of encouragement.
She loved to cook , and having family gather for meals. They loved and raise dog's , mostly beagle's and basset's for many years.
She was predeceased by her parents, and 10 of her siblings.
Della, Beulah, Dorothy, Forest, Helen, Beatrice, Sidney, Dolly and Marylou.
She leaves behind her husband Roger of 61 yrs, her children Larry, Lonnie, Leon, Leslie, Lovena, Loren , Louis , Lisa and Lane, as well as their spouses and children, brother Floyd Whitmore and sister Gladys Cyr, and many extended family members and friends.
The family had a private committal service.
