Limestone - Raymond Mulherin, 85, passed away at Caribou Rehabilitation Center on Saturday, October 5, 2019. Ray was born in Limestone Siding, New Brunswick, Canada on December 10, 1933, the son of James and Victoria (McClure) Mulherin.
Ray attended John Caldwell School in Grand Falls, NB, Canada. In 1955, he moved to the U.S. and married Kathleen Lavoie on October 22, 1955. He was a communicant of St. Louis Catholic Church, Limestone and St. Joseph's, Hamlin. He spent many years working on local farms in Canada and in the packing/shipping operations for Beecher Brown in Limestone.
Ray was an avid golfer, bowler and sports enthusiast. He was especially fond of Yankees baseball, hockey, the Toronto Maple Leafs, WNBA basketball, UCONN Women's basketball, women's softball, beach volleyball, and soccer. For many years he attended baseball, softball and soccer games at LCS/MSSM and often travelled for teams' away games. In 2004, he was selected as Limestone Citizen of the year. He retired from civil service after 28 years as a carpenter with the 42nd Civil Engineering Squadron, Loring Air Force Base, ME.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Kathleen (Kay) of Limestone; three sons and their wives Alan (Roz Goodine), Crosslake Twp; Randy (Paula Fox), Limestone; Jon (Kathy Lagassey), Sadler, TX; a daughter and son in law, Sharon (Ron) Matlock, Caribou; a sister, Grace (Fred) Gage, Ft. Wayne, IN; twelve grandchildren, Ryan (Jen Bagby), Meagan, Lyndsey, Alyssa, and McKayla Mulherin; Vicki (Justin) Evens; Kylie (Mitch) Saucier; Chelsey (Scott) Yingling; Nicholas (Victoria Beedle) Matlock and Ashley Matlock; A.J. and Nicholas Hedrich; eight great-grandchildren, Abagayle Mulherin, Michael Tibbert, Jayna Evens, Peytyn and Channing Saucier; Sadie, Dinah, and June Yingling, and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, and his in laws, Shanel and Lillian Lavoie; a son, Bryan and grand daughter Sarah; three brothers Ernest, Sam and Oscar; five sisters and their husbands, Eva (Peter) Pelosi, Irene (Beecher) Edgecomb, Rosie (Eusebe) Rossignol, Marie (Martin) Shaw, Pauline (Ross) Watts; a brother in law, Loomis Lavoie and his wife Shirley (Roy) Lavoie.
In keeping with his wishes there will be no calling hours or funeral. Private burial services will be held at a later date at St. Louis Cemetery. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at
