Lloyd Roger Donovan Obituary

Washburn, Maine - Lloyd Roger Donovan was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, brother and friend to many. He passed away unexpectedly on March 30, 2026, just weeks before his 71st birthday, leaving behind a legion of family and friends who will feel his loss for the rest of their lives. Lloyd was born to Eva and Loomis Donovan on April 19, 1955, in Fort Fairfield, Maine.

He grew up with brothers and sisters in Caswell, Maine. They were a loving family with a family farm where they all learned the benefits of hard work and making the most of precious free time. Much of his childhood free time was spent with his brothers and sisters, David Donovan (married to Elaine both of Fort Fairfield), Wayne Donovan (married to Gail Donovan both of Woodland), Carolyn Collins f/k/a Donovan (married to Jim Collins both of Portland), and Janet Donovan of Van Buren.

Lloyd's strong work ethic led him to excel in several different jobs where he was always valued as a loyal and enthusiastic employee. He eventually worked at Columbia Forest Products for more than 20 years, retiring in 2019. It was here that he met his soulmate, Anita (Rossignol).

Together, Lloyd and Anita built a beautiful life for the past 31 years, with Lloyd's daughter, April Donovan of Woodland; stepson, Jeffrey Willette of Washburn; stepdaughter, Stacey and her husband, Christopher Leger, both of Caribou; grandchildren, Breanna Hyde, Dillon Philbrook, Alexander Hyde, Wyatt Philbrook, Ethan Philbrook, Landyn Hyde, and Hailey Cote; and great-granddaughter, Ellie Davis; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; and his nephews, Michael Donovan and Shawn MacArthur.

Lloyd lived life to the fullest and had many interests and enjoyments. The biggest of all was spending time with his wife, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter, describing them as his greatest pride. He loved camping, 4-wheeling and visiting local cemeteries to find the resting areas of lost relatives. He was a collector, gathering die cast cars, Americana memorabilia, all things "John Deere" and a vast assortment of swanky hats. He was a generous and kind man, always having a smile for everyone he met and an amazing ability to turn every stranger into a friend. He loved to laugh and was a consummate joker, always eliciting smiles and laughter from those around him.
