Caribou - Laurane Dawn Anderson Theriault left us January 10, 2020, at the age of 84, surrounded at home by her family following a long illness. The daughter of Aubrey Anderson and Pauline Clayton Anderson, Laurane was born in Washburn, Maine, on March 17, 1935, at the home of her grandparents Ira and Jessie Clayton. She came gently at dawn, earning her middle name.
Laurane attended schools in Washburn and graduated in 1953. A minor car accident her senior year led her to meet her future husband, Henry Philip Theriault, a car repair man at the time. From the beginning they were smitten, and in December 1953, Henry and Laurane eloped in Canada. Thereafter they shared a storybook love until his premature passing in 1983.
Laurane was known for her kindness and hospitality. Her home was open to all who needed love and reassurance. She was a proud homemaker for much of her early life. Her home was always immaculate, her kitchen constantly smelled of wonderful food and baked goods, and her most proud occupation was assuring her family's well-being and happiness. After her youngest child began school, Laurane worked for various employers including Grant's Bradford House, Birdseye Foods, Potato Service and Habeeb's Smokeshop.
There was nothing more important to Laurane than her family. She was the beloved mother to six children. Darla Theriault Wambold of Caribou, Kerry Theriault Simones of Wisconsin, Gregory Theriault of New Hampshire, Melanie Theriault Lagasse of New Sweden and Valerie Theriault of Caribou.
Laurane was predeceased by her eldest child, Hollie Theriault Trosper in 2011.
She also was the loving grandmother to 12 grandchildren. Jessica Wambold Ernst and Kyle Wambold, Anthony Kelley, Samantha Michaud Provencal and Elizabeth Michaud, Ashley Theriault Willey, Mikyla and Zachary Simones, Shelby and Beau Theriault, as well as Lukas and Lance Lagasse. Laurane was also blessed with 17 great grandchildren.
She is survived by her cherished sister Bette Lou Tilley and brother-in-law Burton Tilley of Washburn; sister-in- law Della Theriault Beaulieu; and brother-in-law Joel Theriault of Caribou as well as Roland Theriault of Littleton. Laurane was loved by many dear cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. Our family would like to extend a special thank you to her sister-in-law Dolores Lunney, Patty Collins and Jess Ketch whose loving care enabled her to remain in her home.
Friends and family may call at the family home at 1057 Van Buren Road, Caribou, Maine, between 2-8 on Thursday January 16, 2020. A funeral service will be held January 17, 2020, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in North Caribou at 11 A.M. Following the service, a reception will be held at the family home.
