Madawaska, Maine - James J. Collin, 83, departed our lives on January 15, 2026.
He leaves behind an unfillable absence for those who he is survived by. He is cherished, as husband and life partner to Gloria; Dad to Tina (Dan) and Lisa; pépère to Tony Collin (Lacey), James (Emma), Morgan (Devin), and Tabitha (James); grand pépère to Willow and Knox Collin; brother to Patsy, Cecile (Weldon), Theresa (Bob), Fern (Mike); and uncle to many.
He was born in 1942 to Edmund and Leona Collin (predeceased), and raised in the lovely St. John Valley that he proudly called home. He was predeceased by his siblings, Richard, Mary Ann, Emile, Bill, and Edward.
He was a master electrician, appliance repairman, and well pump installer/servicer, running his own business for many years. If you had a question he didn't have an answer to, he wouldn't stop until he did. His family will tell you about his wealth of knowledge, and how he was always there for everyone - showing up in his van, wearing his signature blue Dickies, with his tools and a Pepsi. Not only did he have practical knowledge, he also took every opportunity to have life's great discussions, and share his wisdom and stories. Even in the tough conversations, he would make sure it ended with a laugh. That's just the type of person he was. It's impossible to know him and not feel immense heartache at his passing. But as he would request, go out and "Have a GREAT day!"
Interment will be held at a later date.
