Gardner, MA and Houlton, ME - Gerald Phillip Slagger, 79, passed away Friday May 10, 2019 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA. He was born July 4, 1939, in Houlton, the son of George and Esther (Phillips) Slagger.
Dad loved country music. He had performed on many local television shows and sang with Dick Curless, Johnny Cash, Hal Lone Pine, Slim Clark, and others. Gerald was a proud member of the Tribal Citizens Of The Houlton Band Of Maliseet Indians and the Woodstock First Nation Of Maliseet.
He is survived by his son David Slagger and his wife Mimi of Ashburnham, MA, a cousin Juan Cruz of Bronx, NY, family friend Pat Mikala of Rye, NH, as well as many friends in Manchester, CT where he lived for the last forty years. In addition to his parents, Gerald was predeceased by a son Gerald, a daughter Geraldine, two brothers: George and Richard, and a sister Anna.
A Mass Of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM Saturday May 25, 2019, at St. Mary Of The Visitation Church, with the Rev. Kent Ouellette celebrant. Interment will immediately follow the service at St. Mary's Cemetery on Smyrna Street. The family invites relatives and friends to a reception following the committal at the Parish Center.
