Westfield, Maine - George David Rigg, 85, was born January 30, 1940, in Patterson, New Jersey, to George and Helen Rigg. He went to be with our Lord on December 5, 2025, at Northern Light AR Gould Hospital in Presque Isle.
In 1959, George joined the United States Air Force, and while stationed at Presque Isle Air Force Base, he met Carolyn Treffery and they were married. They traveled to Vermont for 2 1/2 years where they had two children, Holly and David. They spent another 3 years in Alaska, until 1965 when they returned home to Westfield, Maine. Upon returning he started a career he was passionate about, carpentry, and created his own business, 'Professional Custom Building, Inc. George built and remodeled several homes and businesses throughout Aroostook County and beyond. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening, taking prideful care of his property and spending time with his family. He had a fond relationship with wildlife, having carted off over 100 squirrels from his property. In these last 4 years, he was happiest in his chair, with a western playing, watching his great-grandson toddle around.
He will be greatly missed by his wife of 66 years, Carolyn Rigg; his daughter, Holly Wood; his granddaughter, Ashlee and son-in-law, Ryan Scully; and his best tractor driving partner and great-grandson, Sawyer. He was predeceased by his parents; his sister; and his son, Daivd Rigg.
A committal service with military honors will be held in the spring at Fairmount Cemetery in Presque Isle. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of George Rigg to the Westfield War Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 146, Westfield, ME 04787.
