Bangor, Maine - Elizabeth E. Blethen, 95, wife of the late Lloyd V. Blethen, Sr., passed away on Feb. 2, 2026, at her home. She was born Sept. 19, 1930, in Castle Hill, the daughter of Freeman and Viola (Voilette) York.
Elizabeth grew up in Aroostook County and went to school in Castle Hill. She married Lloyd in August 1946 and was a dedicated homemaker providing a wonderful home to her family. Elizabeth loved to read, crochet and knit, and loved having her grandchildren spend time at her home. She and her husband enjoyed family trips, and especially enjoyed snowmobiling and camping.
She is survived by five children, Constance Leppert of Bangor, Marilyn Brewer of Presque Isle, Doug Blethen and his wife, Patricia, of Brunswick, Diane Breeding and her husband, Flint, of Anna, TX, and Matthew Blethen and his wife, Rebecca, of Springfield, VA; grandchildren, Stacy Thompson, Melissa Clark, Timothy Leppert, Heather Fletcher, Erinn Kennedy, Brian Blethen, Jennifer Blethen, Justin Breeding, Garrison Breeding, Jessica Blethen, and Amanda Blethen; great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Alden York of Presque Isle. She was predeceased by her son, Lloyd "Chip" Blethen, in 2024; and by a grandson, Tristan Blethen.
Family and friends may visit 4-6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, 2026, at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer. A graveside committal and burial will take place in the spring at Fairmont Cemetery, Presque Isle. For those who wish, memorial gifts may be made to a charity of choice.
