Dorothy  McQuade


Sanford - Dorothy A. McQuade, 77, of Sanford, Maine, formerly of Fort Fairfield, Maine passed on to heaven Sunday, August 18, 2019 at Maine Medical Center after a long illness.
Dorothy was born in New Brunswick, Canada on January 1, 1942, the daughter of Colwell MacDougall and Lucy Mary Ann Everett MacDougall. Dorothy attended Perth Andover, New Brunswick schools.
Dorothy had many jobs throughout her life. As a young girl she worked at Lewis's Drug Store and Anne's Tea Room Restaurant. After moving to Maine, she worked at Converse Shoe Factory. Dorothy also worked for area farmers harvesting the fields of Aroostook County. Because she loved to bake, she attended cake decorating classes in Limestone, Maine. With her talent, she was self employed at making the most beautiful cakes.
Dorothy loved baking, sewing, gardening, shopping, making flower arrangements, doing crafts, scrapbooking and traveling to exciting places with her family.
On February 24, 1962, she married Wilbert (Bill) McQuade in Perth Andover, New Brunswick.
Dorothy's biggest joy was her family and she was their rock. She was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her family especially her twin grandsons, Adam and Aaron.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Bill McQuade, of Sanford, Maine; one son, Darrell McQuade, of Plaster Rock, New Brunswick; one daughter, Debra Wilson, of Sanford, Maine; two grandsons, Adam Wilson and his fiancée, Kathleen Pyburn of Westbrook, Maine; and Aaron Wilson, of Westbrook, Maine; Philip MacDougall who Dorothy raised like a son; one sister-in-law, Sylvia MacDougall; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert and Margaret MacQuade. Several nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was predeceased by her parents, six brothers Philip, Lawrence, Arthur, Kenneth, Wendell and Robert MacDougall and one sister, Priscilla MacDougall Leman.
Dorothy loved the Lord. She attended Bethel Christian Church in North Berwick, Maine
A celebration of Dorothy's life will take place Saturday, August 24, 2019 at 11 am at Bethel Christian Church, 129 Lower Main Street, North Berwick, Maine 03906. Rev. Robert G. Cole officiating
A bereavement luncheon will follow after the service.
The family would like to thank Maine Medical Center for their excellent care.

I have a lot of good memories of Aunt dodo, that is what we always called her growing up. She trying to teach me how to crochet when I was young and I never figured it out til I was in my twenty’s , lol . She may be gone from this earth but she will never be forgotten from our hearts I send my love and thoughts to uncle Bill , Debbie, and Darrel for the loss that you are feeling . She will always be watching over you . With all my love to you all .
