Houlton - Doris L. Barrows, 82, passed away Friday January 11, 2019 at her residence. She was born November 23, 1936, in Houlton, the daughter of Basil and Gladys (Smith) Boulier.
She had worked various retail positions and as a CLA employee. She was known as "Gram" by many and was deeply loved and respected by all her children and grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband Hubert Arlo Barrows in which they had seven children. She is survived by daughter Judy (Barrows) Doody and her husband Michael of Hodgdon, six sons: Leroy and his wife Nancy of Houlton, David and his friend Heidi Swallow of Smyrna, Danny and his wife Danette of Oakfield, Paul and his wife Barbara of Florida, Philip and his wife Maria of Hawaii, and Dale and his wife Michelle of Ludlow. She also leaves behind a sister Judy Hersey and husband Walter of Bangor, a brother Larry Boulier and his friend Tonia Shaw of Hodgdon, sisters-in-law Ona McDonald, Iris Chambers, Verna Boone, and Eva Hamm and husband Lionel all of Oakfield, and a brother-in-law Eugene Tidd of Connecticut. Doris had many grandchildren and great-grandchildren that she spent a lot of time with and cherished very much. The family would like to thank caregivers Jared Tapley, Corinna McEwen, Sharon Gallagher, and the Visiting Nurses of Eastern Maine Medical for their excellent support and dedication during "Gram's" last month on this earth.
A committal service will be conducted 11 AM Friday, July 26, 2019, at Evergreen Cemetery in Houlton.
Friends called 11 AM Friday January 18, 2019 at Dunn Funeral Home, where a funeral service was conducted at 12 PM with the Rev. Dave Tuttle officiating.
In honoring Doris's request the family asks that in lieu of flowers donations may be made payable in her memory to the Houlton Humane Society or to the ARK Animal Sanctuary in c/o Dunn Funeral Home 11 Park St. Houlton, ME 04730. Online condolences may be expressed on the Tribute Wall at:
