Clara A. Lamont Shawn
As a small child to Portage Lake with Peter you did come
I smiled as I watched you play in the water for you it was fun
With a smile so innocent and sweet it went right to my heart
I knew that day in our family you would always be part
Your life as taken away like a cloud in the wind
You never got a chance to finish all the things you began
I will always be thankful for loving memories that keeps you near
If I could just see your face oh how I wish you were here
Your birthday and mine were just two days apart
That time of year brings such sadness and a pain in my heart
I know you are in Heaven with bright golden wings
Your halo brightly shining as you stand there to sing
Next summer at Portage I'll pick a strong tree
Its kind and location know only to you and to me
I'll see you in each bird that lands on its branch
Or flying toward Heaven as its wings softly dance
I will whisper fly dear Grandson fly home to rest
From sorrows in this mortal world you always did your best
Deep down in your heart I hope that you knew
You were so special Shawn and how much I loved you
