Puyallup, WA, Washington - Chester Leon Hersey, 88, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2026, in Puyallup, Washington.

Chet was born in Presque Isle, Maine, to Leon and Edna Hersey. He graduated from Presque Isle High School in 1955. During his high school years, he worked alongside his father building houses and worked at Larry's Auto Sales in Presque Isle. He served in the United States Air Force, teaching nuclear materials awareness in California. Later, he worked for AT&T where he met his wife, Coleen. In 1969, Chet and Coleen moved to Puyallup, WA, where Chet was employed by Pacific NW Bell for many years. They made their lifelong home in Puyallup while spending retirement winters in Henderson, Nevada.

Chester was preceded in death by his wife, Coleen; and their two daughters. He is survived by his sons, Stuart (Dayna), Brent (Michael), and Bryan; his grandchildren, Zachary (Lena), Ryan, Bennett, and Eli; his great-grandson, Hudson, all of Washington; his brothers, D. Merrill and Lester (Deborah), of Presque Isle.

Chester always thought Presque Isle was home.
