Hampden, Maine - Charles Robert Hitchcock, 80, of Caribou, Maine, passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at an Ohio Hospital surrounded by his family. Charles was born June 12, 1946, in Caribou, Maine, to the late Charles Hitchcock and Hester (Smith) Hitchcock.
He attended The Caribou schools. After finishing school he became a dedicated potato farmer.
He leaves behind his wife of 51 years, Irma; his two sons, Michael Hitchcock and his partner, Kathi, of Ohio, and Christopher Hitchcock and his wife, Kelli, of Etna, Maine; his grandson, Caleb Hitchcock; two granddaughters, Brooke Wilcox (Chris) and Stephanie Bernard (Noah), all of Easton; sister, Carol Fitzherbert of Presque Isle; brother, Dale Hitchcock and his partner, Kathy, of Caribou; and many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; his brother, Larry Hitchcock; his daughter, Kimberly Hammond; and his brother-in-law, Mellon Fitzherbert.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 15, at 11 a.m. at Green Ridge Cemetery. Pastor Goup will be officiating the service. We invite family and friends to join us at the VFW in Caribou to celebrate the life of Charles. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may donate to the Presque Isle animal shelter.
