Woodland, Maine - Anita D. Dickinson, 97, of Woodland, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2026, at the House of Comfort in Presque Isle. Anita was born June 1, 1929, in Caribou, Maine, the daughter of Ricker and Ella Dahlgren.

She graduated from Washburn District High School in June 1947 and later attended the Aroostook School of Commerce, where she studied accounting. On November 21, 1952, Anita married Leroy J. Dickinson. Together they built a life centered around their family, their farm and their community in Aroostook County. Anita took great pride in being a farmer's wife and homemaker. During potato picking, she could be counted on to prepare hearty hot meals for the family working the harvest and to bring homemade treats out to the fields. She was a wonderful cook and baker, and feeding her family was one of the many ways she showed her care for others.

Anita was also very talented at sewing and spent many hours at her sewing machine making much of her own clothing as well as clothing for her children. Her creativity continued through the years in many forms. She especially enjoyed quilting, crafting and tole painting, making quilts for herself and her family and creating many handmade pieces. She also generously made and donated many baby quilts to the Pregnancy Care Center, extending that same care to families she might never meet.

In later years, Anita worked in the business office at A. R. Gould Memorial Hospital before retiring. Anita was formerly a member of Washburn Baptist Church and, more recently, a member of State Street Baptist Church in Presque Isle. Her faith was an important part of a life devoted to her family and to caring for others.

She was predeceased by her husband, Leroy J. Dickinson; her parents, Ricker and Ella Dahlgren; and her brothers, Leland, Allen, and Gerald Dahlgren. Anita is survived by her brother, Ray; her sons, Michael Dickinson, Stephen Dickinson, Andrew Dickinson and his wife, Jody, and Mark Dickinson and his wife, Debbie; her daughter, Linda (Dickinson) Bubar and her husband, Brent. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Cassie Dickinson Shaw and her husband, Troy, Justin Dickinson, Makayla Dickinson, Bethany Bubar Carmichael and her husband, Steven, Matthew Bubar, Christopher Dickinson, and Ryan Dickinson; and her great-grandchildren, Chandler and Bailey White, Marigan and Elijah McBreairty, and Camden Carmichael; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends and relatives may call beginning at 12 p.m. Saturday, September 19, 2026, at State Street Baptist Church in Presque Isle, where a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. with Robert "Bob" Leland officiating. A private family interment will follow at Hillside Grove Cemetery in Crouseville. Those who wish to remember Anita in a special way may make memorial contributions to the House of Comfort.
