Caribou - Alban R. Thibodeau passed into his Savior's arms on October 8, 2019. He was born January 28, 1926 to the late George and Marie (Violette) Thibodeau in Notre Dame De Lourdes New Brunswick, Canada.
His formative years were spent in Notre Dame De Lourdes until he came to the United States in early 1940's. He met and married Carmen Martin of Hamlin. They were married on July 7, 1946 and had two sons. They were married for 72 beautiful years until her passing on April 14, 2018. He worked as a carpenter at Loring Air Force Base in the fifties, then in 1959 as a mechanic at a local gas station. In 1961 Al became the co-owner of a station known as Al & Pat's Esso, and after they moved to a different location it became Al & Pat's Sunoco. In later years he went on his own operating AL's Sunoco Service (known as Doc's Place) in Caribou. He spent many happy years serving the public. Al was a life member of Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree. He enjoyed bingo and being active in many different activities. He had many interests in life, family first, but enjoyed fishing, camping and was an avid hunter. He spent many days golfing with friends. These were some of the best times in his retirement. He loved his cookies and candy made with love just for him. He will be missed by so many people he came in contact with daily.
Surviving Al are his two sons Earl and wife Rosanne of Cumming, GA, Galen and wife Brenda of Caribou; four grandchildren that he loved dearly, Fay of Caribou, Denise and Greg Fournier of Carmel, Christi and husband Vann Riley of Georgia and Jeff Thibodeau of Atlanta, GA; he had seven great-grandchildren, Brayden, Blake and Grant Riley of Georgia, Avery Thibodeau of Caribou and Andre, Corbin and Fletcher of Carmel; he has one brother Conday Thibodeau of Caribou; many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, three brothers, Robert, Aurelle and Alyre Thibodeau and four sisters, Cecile, Laurette, Adelaide and Edburge. He was also predeceased by his wife Carmen in 2018.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 10 a.m., Tuesday, October 15, 2019 from the Parish of the Precious Blood Holy Rosary Church. Following the service, a time of continued fellowship and refreshments was held at the Parish Center. Interment is in the Old Holy Rosary Cemetery. My sincere sympathy to Earl and Galen and your families. I saw Uncle Alban this Summer and enjoyed talking with him and he is as always cheerful and such a delight. I guess God must have needed another angel.
