Scott Eugene Trecartin

February 11, 1937 - January 03, 2019

Scott Eugene Trecartin Scott Eugene Trecartin, 81, took his last breath on Jan. 3, 2019, surrounded by his daughters at Madigan Estates. He was born Feb. 11, 1937, in Lower Wakefield, New Brunswick, Canada, to Basil and Dora (Shaw) Trecartin.
His journey through life was not always easy. He went to grade school. His life was led by where the job was and in 1964 it led him to Monticello, Maine, United States where he worked for Lawrence Good. Scott would eventually meet Mary Jo Foster and they were married in 1965 and settled in Monticello. Dad worked for many farmers through the years. Even though he had a full time job he was always helping a farmer. He was working for A E Staley when he retired.
In 1966 they started a family of which was a girl and three more girls would come over the years but, it never mattered to Scott for his girls could do anything a boy could .... only better. This included getting winter wood and feeding the animals which were many over the years. Dad's hobbies were singing, dancing, playing cards, family and horse pulls. If there was a horse pull Scottie was there. Dad's life changed when Mom died and he now needed to depend on us girls. Dementia can change a person but, Dad still loved to laugh, eat and sleep.
He is survived by Heather (Ralph) Merrow of Waterville, Melissa Trecartin of Cary, Jennifer Trecartin and partner, Kenny Smith, of Monticello, Jamie (Charles) Hathaway of Woodstock, New Brunswick and his daughter by choice Christine (Robert) Grant of Houlton. He was Papa to Nicholas Merrow, Hunter Trecartin, Destiny and Story Hathaway. He also leaves his sisters Thelma Harris, Maxine Ingraham, Evelyn Carten and Ola (Joyce) Foster. He also leaves many nieces, nephews and several extended family members. He was predeceased by his sister, Kathleen Lockard, and brother, David Trecartin.
The family would like to thank Dr. Abouleish and the staff at Madigan for allowing him to die with dignity and in peace. There are no words for how comforting you all made us feel and we will forever be grateful. We will have grave side services later in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Bowers Funeral Home.
