Eugene E. Hoffses

July 25, 1930 - February 05, 2019

Eugene E. Hoffses Eugene E. Hoffses, 88, devoted husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully, holding the hand of his youngest daughter, Lisa McPherson. Gene was born in Castle Hill on July 25, 1930. He was the son of John and Beatrice (Howes) Hoffses.
Gene graduated from Mapleton High School in 1950. After graduation, Gene joined the U.S. Airforce in 1951 until 1955. Gene was a selectman for Castle Hill for 27 years.
Gene worked for Lane Construction for 36 years and will always be remembered for his mechanical skills and his ability to build and make anything work. We will always remember the "unique Grampie Gene way" of making something from nothing. He loved snowmobiling, watching and helping the land he owned being farmed, his once in a lifetime trip to Alaska after he retired, and camping, and anyone who knew Gene will forever remember his unique laugh.
Gene is survived by his wife, Ina of 67 years, sons, Richard "Bud" and his wife Belinda of Eddington, ME, Robert "Bob" and wife Lorie of Castle Hill, daughters Lori and husband Charlie Hill from Palm Bay, FL, Lisa McPherson and companion Ron Shaw of Mars Hill, sisters, Marjorie Murchison of Caribou, Marion Guerrette of Preque Isle, brother Roger Hoffses of Zepher Hills, FL, and Presque Isle, brother in law, Tom Perry of Washington State, 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Gene was predeceased by brothers, Llewellyn, Johnnye, Richard and Ralph, along with sisters, Mary Rose Thomas, Pauline Peterson, and Maxine Perry.
We would like to extend a heartfelt Thank You to Dad's provider, Jaymie St. Peter, who went above and beyond in Dad's care, and also the Mars Hill Nursing Home, where he received extraordinary loving care.
At Gene's request there will be no services, with a committal at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to Shriner's Hospital in Springfield, MA or Katahdin Area Council of Boy Scouts would be greatly appreciated. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.duncan-graves.com
