Earl E. McGrath Earl E. McGrath, 87, passed away on Wednesday, November 28, 2018, at his home with his family by his side. He was born on April 11, 1931, the son of Morris and Gladys (Goodine) McGrath.
Earl served in the Navy from 1950 - 1954 and married the love of his life on November 17, 1956, then raised a family together. He worked at International Paper for many years before retiring. He was a life member of the V.F.W post 2599 in Presque Isle since 1972. As an active member he served as a Post Commander for 25 plus years. He was State Commander from 1990 - 1991 and was house and lounge manager for the bar area at the V.F.W for 6 plus years. He was also a life member of the disabled veterans smart ricker #10. Earl was a very devoted member of the veterans and held a variety of positions.
Earl loved camping, family bbqs and watching his favorite team, the Red Sox. He was loved by many and will be deeply missed and always remembered by everyone who had the pleasure to know him, especially by his loving family.
Earl is survived by his wife, Wilma (Little) McGrath of 62 years; his children, Earl McGrath Jr. of Presque Isle, and Randy McGrath and his wife, Dawn, of Fort Fairfield; his grandson, Conrad McGrath and his girlfriend, Kylee Pelletier, of Presque Isle; two granddaughters, Amanda McGrath and her boyfriend, Floyd Hafford, of Caribou, and Katie McGrath and her boyfriend, Brian Benedict, of Presque Isle; four great-granddaughters, Kayla McGrath of Presque Isle, Cassidy McGrath of Caribou, Abigail and Melanie Dillon of Fort Fairfield; and two great-grandsons, Nolan and Eli McGrath of Presque Isle.
In addition to his parents, Earl was predeceased by three sisters; three brothers; and two sons, one lived for 10 minutes and the other was stillborn.
Friends and family may call on Sunday, December 2, 2018, from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. at Duncan Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church Street in Presque Isle, where a funeral service will be held Monday, December 3, 2018, at 1 p.m. Memories and condolences may be shared with family the at www.duncan-graves.com.
