Doris Alexander

May 20, 1930 - January 11, 2019

Doris Alexander Doris Alexander, Caribou native and long-time Phoenix Arizona resident, passed away on January 11, 2019, at the age of 88. The daughter of Magloire and Ozithe Belanger of North Caribou, Maine, Doris grew up working hard on their family farm. She soon learned to be an exceptional dancer and musical performer, playing piano and singing as a member of her family's dance band in the early 1940s. She married and moved to New Jersey, raising two young sons. She braved a new frontier and moved to her adopted home, Arizona, in the 1960s.

Always the life of the party, Doris would bring cheer and sassy humor to all she knew. Her outgoing nature and full-throated laughter suited her well as a professional server, waiting tables for local as well as Hollywood elite at such institutions as The Stockyards, the renowned Lulu Belle bar and restaurant, and Pinnacle Peak Patio. Amanda Blake was one of many regulars who insisted on sitting in her section.

Doris is survived by her sister, Elda Crouch of Caribou, Maine; her nephews, Mark Crouch and Mike Belanger; her nieces, Nancy Crouch, Lela Guerette Kalkbrenner, Pamela Belanger Brown, Judy Belanger, Debra Rondeau and Trina Fennello. She is predeceased by her sons, Brian and Bruce; her brothers Lawrence, Ernest and Roy Belanger; and her dear friends Annie Mosley and Jack Thornberg.

A celebration of her life will take place soon at her favorite hang-out, Ole' Brass Rail, in Phoenix. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital - the charity she quietly supported all her life.
